Investing in the Future of Greater Lansing
“After more than 40 years serving Greater Lansing, I still enjoy seeing local leaders come together to improve our community.”
This morning I had the opportunity to attend the monthly Delta Township–Eaton County Business Roundtable held at the Aviation Careers Institute at Capital Region International Airport and sponsored by the Greater Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce.
What stood out to me wasn’t just the location — although the aviation setting was impressive — it was the collaboration taking place inside the room.
Representatives from education, business, local government, economic development, and community organizations all came together with a shared goal: making our region stronger for the next generation.
Education, Leadership, and Economic Growth in Greater Lansing
As someone who has spent decades serving Greater Lansing, I continue to believe one of the greatest strengths of our community is the willingness of people to work together. Real progress rarely happens in isolation. It happens when schools, employers, nonprofits, local leaders, and residents share ideas and stay invested in the future of the area we call home.
Walking through the Aviation Careers Institute, you could feel that forward-thinking mindset everywhere. The displays highlighting the
history of aviation — from the Wright brothers to modern aerospace innovation — were a reminder that growth always begins with vision, education, and people willing to invest in what comes next.
The meeting also reinforced something I often share with clients: community matters.
When families choose where to live, retire, raise children, or invest in a home, they are choosing far more than a house. They are choosing:
-
schools
- leadership
- business climate
- infrastructure
- opportunities
- quality of life
- and the people who shape the culture of a community
That is one reason I remain so passionate about Greater Lansing, Delta Township, Grand Ledge, Holt, and the surrounding areas. There is genuine pride here. There are people actively working to improve our neighborhoods, support local business, expand educational opportunities, and prepare young people for meaningful careers.
Community Happens When People Stay Engaged
The Aviation Careers Institute itself is a great example. Programs like this help students connect education with real-world career opportunities while helping employers develop the skilled workforce our region needs in the future.
Sometimes we focus so much on national headlines that we overlook the important work happening right here in our own backyard.
Today was a good reminder that community pride is not just a slogan. It is built through involvement, partnerships, leadership, and people willing to stay engaged and Choose Lansing.
“As I work with many seniors and families navigating downsizing, retirement, and life transitions, conversations like these remind me how important strong communities and local resources truly are.”
I’m grateful to attend these sessions each month, and even more grateful to continue serving a region filled with people who care deeply about its future.
